This study, featured in the&nbsp;<em>Horyzonty Polityki<\/em>&nbsp;journal, examines how Polish media outlets&nbsp;<strong>Polityka<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Sieci<\/strong>&nbsp;portrayed the refugee crises at Poland&#8217;s borders with Belarus and Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><em>Key Insights from the Study:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Media Portrayal of Refugees:<\/strong>&nbsp;The research analyzes the depiction of refugees during the border crises, capturing the reactions, emotions, and decisions highlighted in the media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Impact of Media Polarization:<\/strong>&nbsp;Utilizing media polarization theory, the study explores the similarities and differences in coverage between the selected media outlets, revealing how structural polarization influences behavioral aspects of media reporting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Thematic Focus:<\/strong>&nbsp;Findings indicate that coverage of the Belarusian border crisis predominantly featured political, social, and religious themes, while the Ukrainian border crisis coverage included polarizing elements centered on evaluating or criticizing authorities and addressing or ignoring uncomfortable issues related to refugees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><em>Funding Information:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This research was conducted as part of the&nbsp;<strong>Diversity Management as Innovation in Journalism<\/strong>&nbsp;project and received funding from the&nbsp;<strong>Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014\u20132021<\/strong>&nbsp;under project no.&nbsp;<strong>2020\/37\/K\/HS2\/03773<\/strong>. The international and interdisciplinary team of senior experts plays a critical role in the project\u2019s successful implementation, fieldwork &amp; dissemination of findings.\n\nFrom the onset the project was planned as a collaboration between the projects\u2019 core Research Team, Advisory Board and Network of Project\u2019s Partners. Our objective was to bring together a cohesive team of national and international senior experts assembled under the project in recognition of its urgency. Each expert brings to the project unique expertise, their own networks, and appropriate levels of 'in kind' labor, helping enhance the methodological tools and theory as well as support the project\u2019s validation and dissemination of findings.
